The Menopause Workplace Pledge campaign

Wellbeing of Women

Wellbeing of Women is a UK health charity saving and changing the lives of women, girls and babies. We have funded some of the biggest breakthroughs in medical research. Following a new Five-Year Strategy, we made a strategic decision to expand our focus to include advocacy and education.

It is estimated that one million women have left the workplace due to struggling with menopause symptoms. Many others reduce their hours or pass up promotions. Despite those over the age of 51 being the fastest growing demographic in the workplace, evidence shows that support can be lacking due to menopause being viewed as a taboo subject. Our Menopause Workplace Pledge aims to tackle this issue and ensure all working women receive the support they need and deserve. So far, 1,000 employers have signed the pledge, including Tesco, AstraZeneca, the BBC, Santander, HSBC, ASOS, Royal Mail, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and London Zoo. The Civil Service, House of Commons and NHS England have committed too. Many are implementing initiatives that will positively support millions of UK employees. More widely, we have achieved widespread media coverage and conversations around menopause in the workplace in the press have increased across social media.
