South East London Suicide Bereavement Service

South East London Mind

This exceptional team provide holistic support to people who have experienced the tragedy of losing a loved one to suicide. Working across six London boroughs (a population of nearly two million), they offer practical, emotional and spiritual care both one-to-one and in groups. As the service has grown and developed, they continue to go above and beyond to provide personalised, non-judgemental and high quality support to our service users.

People bereaved by suicide are up to three times more likely to die by suicide than the general population. This is therefore a preventative service: the team aims not only to help people cope with an incredibly painful experience, but ultimately to prevent further loss of life by suicide.

The service is led by South East London Mind and delivered as a collaborative partnership with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Mind in Bexley. Staff are employed across all three organisations but work as one, cohesive team, alongside our wonderful volunteers, who have their own lived experience of suicide loss. They work very closely together to ensure that service users are receiving joined-up care, and getting the right support at the right time.
