See, Hear, Respond charity partnership
Barnardo's and 87 national and community third sector organisations
The See, Hear, Respond Partnership is believed to be the fastest response for children and young people made vulnerable by the impacts of Covid-19 in England, involving the largest number of partners working together. Launched in June 2020, with £11.4m in funding from the Department for Education, it brought together 87 national and community third sector organisations to identify and help children who were hidden but impacted by Covid 19.
We provided:
- An online support package ensuring children and families had readily available, accessible and interactive support;
- Online and telephone triage by trained professionals who sourced tailored support from charity workers within the partnership;
- Online counselling or therapy for those experiencing high levels of anxiety, trauma or other mental health issues that can be safely addressed through digital means;
- Youth interventions and face-to-face crisis support, particularly for those at risk of or experiencing various forms of exploitation, including criminal exploitation.
The partnership supported 100,000 vulnerable children and their families by 31 March 2021, with a further 360,000 benefiting from the online advice hub. 98% felt listened to, 95% felt respected, 89% felt they had a say in their support, and 98% said the support was helpful.
