Samir Patel joined Comic Relief as its CEO just over three years ago in March 2021, and in that time has overseen a new strategy, a turnaround in fundraising results, a more engaged workforce and a focus on diversity and equity. After years of declining income and multiple restructures, Samir’s tenure has seen the first year-on-year income growth since 2019, the first increase in Red Nose Day income since 2011, and much needed leadership stability. Since 2022, staff that say they have confidence in the executive leadership team has more than doubled, increasing by 133%. The income performance has been Samir’s priority - as a funder and a fundraiser, our ability to raise money is essential to Comic Relief making progress towards our vision of a just world free from poverty.
