Safe Haven
SKT Welfare
One of the pressing issues SKT addresses is the dire living conditions of families in camps in Syria. With extreme heat, cold, flooding, and lack of specialized services for persons with disabilities, families are forced to live in overcrowded and hazardous conditions, with many children and women being particularly vulnerable. SKT has responded by building over 1,500 homes in 4 villages, called Safe Haven villages. Each home consists of two rooms, a courtyard, a kitchen, a washroom, and a bathroom, providing over 50sqm of living space for families. In addition to this, SKT ensures families are provided with culturally appropriate food packs and winterization items like mattresses, blankets, coal, clothes, and hygiene kits. Each village offer essential community services such as a medical clinic, school, and a women-safe space. By providing longer-term solutions like Safe Haven homes, SKT is making a tangible impact on the lives of people, empowering them to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope for a brighter future.
