National Day of Reflection

Marie Curie

On 23 March 2021, one year since the start of the first UK lockdown, end-of-life charity Marie Curie invited the nation to take a minute to reflect on our collective grief, and a moment to support the millions bereaved. The National Day of Reflection, led by Marie Curie and developed in partnership with hundreds of organisations, saw millions of people come together to remember loved ones and support each other through grief. The day received exceptional national TV, radio and online media coverage, phenomenal social media engagement, and was actively supported by a host of celebrities, politicians and the Royal Family. We knew that to mobilise the nation on this day, we’d also need the support of other organisations large and small, as well as political leaders, faith leaders and prominent figures across all communities. By identifying the need for this national moment of reflection and creating a platform via https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/get-involved/day-of-reflection for millions grieving across the UK, Marie Curie demonstrated its leadership, compassion, and ability to bring people together around difficult but important societal issues.
