Media Team
British Red Cross
It’s been a remarkable year for the British Red Cross media team. The last 12 months has seen the frequency and scale of global crises continue to increase. Emergencies across the UK and around the world meant the team was responding to multiple crises at once, playing a vital role raising awareness of the organisation’s work helping people in crisis, whoever or wherever they are. The escalation of the conflict in Ukraine saw us rally at pace to support people facing devastating crisis. In Pakistan, floods left more than 8 million people displaced from their homes, causing untold suffering. In Africa the food crisis intensified further, putting millions in danger of starvation and disease. And in the first few months of 2023, earthquakes destroyed buildings and lives in Türkiye and Syria.
The team has achieved outstanding results, be it national media partnerships or innovative content, but our unique strength is communicating our local and global impact. We have a Red Cross in almost every country in the world. When disaster strikes, we’re there, authentically and accurately sharing insight from local actors on the ground, relaying the needs of communities and the power of humanitarian support through the media.
