Maa's Fundraising Team

Maternal Aid Association (Maa) is a grassroots charity, founded by our CEO Dr Aqil Jaigirdar while he was still a third year medical student. His inspiration for starting the charity came when he witnessed the devastating loss of life of a mother and child from preventable causes in a village hospital in Bangladesh.

Maa's vision is to revolutionise maternal healthcare in resource-poor countries, through our holistic evidence-based approach called OneMaa, which brings together localised health camps, women's health groups and a digital health platform called MaaConnect. All that Maa has achieved since 2018, has been due to all of it's volunteers! Maa volunteers work tirelessly to to put on high quality events, such as our Grand Gala at The Waldorf Hilton, our charity hikes and our fun-filled month of giving called MaaMonth (this is just a taster of what we do!). Hence, we would be remiss if we do not highlight the incredible work of our volunteers for all to celebrate!
