Make a Medic
Three maxims underpin our activities: 1. Cost should not be a barrier between medical students and outstanding resources. 2. We aim to assist the training of medical students in other, lower income parts of the world. Illness is much the same, whichever part of the world you may be in, but the resources available to deal with ill health vary considerably. 3. We aim to identify high impact global health projects, create grants to fund their implementation and employ research techniques to objectively evaluate their impact. I have spent a lot of time researching social inequality and the ways in which others are disadvantaged by factors that are out of their control. This ranges from students in non-fee-paying schools lacking access to informed teachers to guide their application, through to children in Kenya who were regularly missing school due to diarrhoeal diseases stemming from unsafe drinking water. I want to use my platform to have a positive impact that hopes to level these inequalities. It's ambitious, but my vision is vivid and I am incredibly motivated.
