Investing in a fairer world
Shared Interest Society
Shared Interest is a social lender, which brings together 11,500 investors who pool their funds to support people living in disadvantaged communities. Together, we share the risk of providing unsecured lending to businesses in the most remote areas of the world.
Our members share our vision of a world where justice is at the heart of trade finance. With Share Capital of over £49 million, we offer finance to organisations that follow Fair Trade Principles, helping overt 350,000 people in 51 countries, last year alone, to trade and earn a living each year.
By providing low-interest loans and credit facilities, we support businesses through the entire supply chain, from smallholder farmers to large-scale coffee and cocoa co-operatives and buyers. We are the only social lender in the world providing finance to small, vulnerable organisations; particularly handcraft producers.
Thanks to our UK supporters, we are able to contribute towards building stronger, more sustainable businesses, as well as improving the livelihoods of people in some of the world’s most disadvantaged communities.
Chino Henriquez, General Manager of Chilean honey and blueberry co-operative, Apicoop, said: “Thanks to Shared Interest we can work together to make dreams a reality all over the world.”
