Dave Seal

Dave Seal is the chair of the board of trustees for Band of Builders (BoB) – an award-winning charity that completes practical projects to help members of the UK construction industry who are battling illness or injury.

A big part of the charity since its early days, he has got involved in practical projects, has served as a general trustee and now steers the strategic direction of BoB. He has revolutionised the charity’s infrastructure to enhance its reach, efficiency and effectiveness. Key aspects of this have been: • Recommending the appointment of a CEO to focus the charity’s strategies and enhance relationship-building opportunities • Suggesting the development of volunteer-run sub-committees, including for marketing, events and fundraising – significantly aiding BoB’s management and activities • Expanding the board by recruiting trustees with valuable expertise

These have enabled BoB to help more beneficiaries, develop partnerships with corporate sponsors and raise greater awareness.

Alongside these structural transformations, Dave has directly raised more than £220,000 for BoB: £120,000 through the sale of BoB tape measures via Toolbank and £100,000 through contacts and introductions.

With Dave as chair, BoB has been able to weather the cost-of-living crisis and the wider construction industry downturn.
