There are 12 million people with hearing loss in the UK today – that’s 1 in 5 adults. It’s a common issue, and yet is surrounded by stigma, making people incredibly slow to take action on hearing loss. In fact, it takes on average ten years from first noticing signs of hearing loss to getting treatment that can revolutionise their lives. RNID’s new ‘Check you hearing’ campaign used behaviour change insights from deep-dive research to focus targeted messaging at audiences likely to have hearing loss, leading to over 200,000 people taking RNID’s 3 minute online hearing check in the first year of launch. And it’s making a real-life impact on the nation’s hearing health: our survey results show that at 12 weeks, 82% of respondents reported taking practical action on their hearing loss.
