Charity dental care - south eastern hub

Dentaid The Dental Charity

Dentaid The Dental Charity provides mobile outreach dental services for the most vulnerable people in our communities. Volunteers on our dental units provide dental treatments and oral health programmes for people experiencing homelessness, abuse, poverty and harm. Working alongside charity partners, we visit hostels, community buildings, foodbanks and drop-in services to offer free, regular, sustainable dental care for their service-users.

Since Covid, demand for Dentaid's charity dental clinics has soared. In 2019 we ran 51 UK clinics, by 2022 this was 277. Last year Dentaid conducted 422 and in 2024 we are on target to deliver 900 charity dental clinics for people experiencing health inequalities across the UK.

Achieving this growth required new vehicles, staff and geographical expansion. Thanks to our corporate partnership with Septodont, - the leading dental pharmaceutical company - we were able to establish our first regional hub in the southeast of England.

Septodont funded a new charity dental unit, provides a regional base for the vehicle and two staff, donates dental pharmaceuticals and materials, supports clinics in the local community and funded a clinical supervisor role. This combination of practical and financial support has significantly increased capacity and impact in the region, while reducing road miles.
